DEVLIN CYCLES
Devlin Custom Cycles was born from Sean Doyle’s own desire to create; to make objects made with his own hands, that he could be proud of.
Sean started riding and racing in the mid 80’s when steel frames were the norm, and a custom frame wasn’t such a big deal. As the 90’s came and went, it became more difficult to find the right bike. Materials focus changed in the industry and the many small local builders closed shop.
In 2005 Sean moved to Brisbane, and found himself in ‘Llewellyn country’. While his passion was still there, his enthusiasm was kerbed by the realities of frame building; it’s hard toil, and the investment is high. Sean’s views on frame building have been shaped by ‘Dazza’ (Llewellyn Bikes) and his philosophy of building properly. Not falling for the gimmicks of design, Sean jumped on the tools. As his skills progressed, and the nuances of great design learned, Sean set up his own workshop. And he continues to push steel into new areas today.
Building with lugs, fillet-brazing and researching the proper use of 3D-printing, Sean produces fantastic riding, great-looking steel frames. Beyond road, race and gravel, he now also takes on the challenges of making full suspension mountain bikes.
